Our Coaches
Our team is the heart of our Youth Basketball Skills Training Program, bringing years of experience and a passion for developing young athletes. Each coach is dedicated to providing a positive and enriching environment where kids can thrive both on and off the court.
Mike Sestich
Director of Basketball Operations
Mike Sestich is the current Boys’ Varsity Head Coach at Peninsula High School, bringing over 30 years of experience in coaching high school basketball for both boys and girls. His career has included roles as both assistant and head coach, showcasing his deep knowledge and passion for the game. Prior to joining Peninsula, Coach Sestich led the program at Mary Star of the Sea High School from 2016 to 2021. An alumnus of San Pedro High School, Coach Sestich distinguished himself as a standout player, earning All-City and Marine League MVP honors. His exceptional contributions to the sport were recognized with his induction into the San Pedro High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. He continued his basketball journey at the collegiate level, playing for the University of San Francisco.
Bob Uchida
Director of Player Development
Bob Uchida bring to us over 47 years of experience in youth basketball. He served as the Los Angeles Commissioner for the Southern Pacific Region of the National AAU in SoCal. He has won one AAU National Championship. Coach Bob has also served as a Board Member for the West Coast Basketball Association for Elite travel basketball clubs. He has been the Director for international basketball clinics in Mexico and Japan. Lastly, Bob has coached at The Bel Air Prep School, Pacific Hills High, San Pedro high and Mary Star of the Sea High Schools where three SoCal CIF and one STATE CIF High School Championships were won.

Training Programs
At Beyond the Arc, we offer training in multiple languages to better serve our diverse community, including Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, Croatian, and English.
To ensure personalized attention, each group training session is capped at 25 players, giving everyone the opportunity to learn and improve in a focused environment.
Our training sessions take place at conveniently located basketball gyms across the South Bay (Torrance and Palos Verdes Peninsula), making it easy for you to access top-notch coaching.
Fundamentals
Fundamentals is our entry-level program, perfect for young players who are new to basketball. This level focuses on teaching the basics and building a solid foundation.
Academy
Academy is designed for players who have grasped the basics and are ready to advance their skills with complex techniques and game strategies.
High School Clinics
High School Basketball Clinic is designed for players to prepare for high school basketball. Work with Peninsula High School's Varsity Coach, Mike Sestich.
